A Christmas Story at The Fox Theatre Detroit December 20-22 and Giveaway

A Christmas Story was a classic in my home growing up as a child.  It played on TV all day long.  One year we even gifted my father the leg lamp as a gift and as you can imagine...it was a hit!  It even came in the Fragile wooden box!
As Christmas approaches and family begins to make their way to town, I can't think of a better way to spend quality family time other than attending A Christmas Story The Musical at The Fox Theatre!  A Christmas Story The Musical is making it's way to Detroit and it's a must see!
From the songwriting team behind the smash hit Tony Award-winning musical Dear Evan Hansen and the Academy Award-winning film La La Land, A Christmas Story, The Musical, brings the classic 1983 movie to hilarious life on stage at the Fox Theatre as part of the Fox Theatre Series.
A Christmas Story, The Musical chronicles young and bespectacled Ralphie Parker as he schemes his way toward the holiday gift of his dreams, an official Red Ryder® Carbine-Action 200-Shot Range Model Air Rifle (“You’ll shoot your eye out kid!”).  An infamous leg lamp, outrageous pink bunny pajamas, a maniacal department store Santa, and a triple-dog-dare to lick a freezing flagpole are just a few of the distractions that stand between Ralphie and his Christmas wish. Chock-full of delightful songs and splashy production numbers, A Christmas Story, The Musical, has proudly taken its place as a perennial holiday classic for the whole family.
Hailed by The Associated Press as “a joyous Christmas miracle,” The New York Times writes “I was dazzled. You’d have to have a Grinch-sized heart not to feel a smile spreading across your face.” A Christmas Story, The Musical premiered on Broadway in 2012 and was a critical and commercial success. The musical was nominated for three TONY Awards® including Best New Musical, Best Original Score, and Best Book of a Musical.
A Christmas Story, The Musical features a festive and nostalgic holiday themed score by composer/lyricist team Benj Pasek and Justin Paul (TONY Award for Dear Evan Hansen, OSCAR for La La Land), with a book by Joseph Robinette, based on the writings of radio humorist Jean Shepherd and the 1983 holiday film favorite.  The tour features direction by Matt Lenz, with casting by Alison Franck. TONY Award® winner Warren Carlyle’s Broadway choreography will be reset for the tour by Jason Sparks. A Christmas Story, The Musical features scenic design by Mike Carnahan, with costume design by Lisa Zinni and lighting design by Charlie Morrison. The hounds will play themselves.
A Christmas Story, The Musical is produced by Big League Productions, Inc. Led by President and Executive Producer Daniel Sher, Big League is celebrating its 29th season of producing, general managing and booking Broadway musicals and special attractions for touring throughout North America and the world. 4. This was a must watch every year growing up. Now As an adult we have it playing in the background on Christmas Day. We also have a leg lamp that stays up year round and we have A Christmas story Christmas village. My kids pick out a new piece to add to the village each year on our traditional visit to Bronners. I’m not sure who can recite the movie better my husband and I or my kids. Lol. Oh and the book is just as good as the movie. If you haven’t read the book yet add it to your reading list!

  7. We LOVE "A Christmas Story"!
We watch it on TV every year and sometimes we let the 24 hour marathon and in the past, my husband has actually watched the marathon the entire time he was awake one year and he still wasn't tired of it. Haha.

About 10 yrs. ago or so, when we were still raising our 5 kids (now all adults), we went to a local small community play of "A Christmas Story" where we lived at that time and we were happily surprised & impressed what a great job they did. Somehow, it was even funnier than the movie!

I plan to surprise my husband with a trip to the "A Christmas Story" House museum in Cleveland, Ohio's Tremont neighborhood, that he doesn't even know exists and I know he will be so excited & absolutely LOVE. If I can't do it this year, then I hope to do it next year!

We have never seen "A Christmas Story" as a Broadway musical and besides loving this movie as much as we both do, we both absolutely LOVEEEEEEE Broadway musicals too. No matter how much we love any movie, we tend to usually love the Broadway musicals even more! So this would be an amazingly awesome, only 5 days early Christmas gift for my husband AND for me AND 51st birthday present for me too, since my birthday is Dec. 25th! PLUS to make it even better, we can treat 2 of our loved ones, by bringing them with us!

Thank you for this chance! We've been wanting to go see this show, this year and could not afford to fit it in the budget, so it would be such an exciting unexpected treat!

Excited and grateful to even have a chance, so thank you for that!
